The Quilt raffle for Anna’s Fund will be launched at an artists’ reception, thisThursday (August 18th) from 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Sotheby Realty, 48 Mt Vernon Street where the quilt will be on display. Local textile artist and master quilter, Denise Konicek, has donated her original “William and Morris Sampler” quilt to help fundraise for Anna’s Fund.

The queen quilt size is 73 x 84 inches and made from 100% cotton. Cloth squares are historic William Morris reprints from the Victoria and Albert Museum.

All proceeds from the raffle will go to Anna’s Fund, which boosts the purchasing power of SNAP customers to buy fresh and local food from Winchester Farmers Market. This season, Anna’s Fund is running low, and the quilt raffle is one initiative to replenish it.

Anna’s Fund comes from contributions by individuals, organizations, and businesses in the Winchester community.

Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase every Saturday during the Winchester Farmers Market at the market manager’s tent. Raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The drawing for the quilt will take place on November 19 at the last Market of the year.

The reception is part of Art in August. Sponsor Winchester Cultural Council invites the public to have a cultural evening downtown, enjoy refreshments, learn more about the artists’ work, and speak with them. Denise will be sharing the space with another Winchester textile artist, Kiyomi Yatsuhashi.
